What Is a PICC Line?

At Nova Wearables, we specialize in creating stylish, comfortable PICC line and midline covers designed to bring confidence, comfort, and self-expression to everyday care. But what exactly is a PICC line?

A PICC line, or Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter, is a long, flexible tube placed into a vein in the arm and guided toward a larger vein near the heart. It is commonly used for long-term treatments such as IV antibiotics, hydration therapy, chemotherapy, nutrition support, and other infusion-based medications.

Unlike a traditional IV, a PICC line can remain in place for weeks or even months, making ongoing treatment more manageable and reducing the need for repeated needle sticks.

Many individuals living with chronic illness, autoimmune conditions, Lyme disease, cancer, or long-term infections rely on PICC lines as part of their daily care. Because PICC lines are visible and require protection, covers and sleeves can help provide:

  • Comfort during everyday movement
  • Protection for tubing and dressings
  • Added confidence in public settings
  • A more personal, less clinical look

At Nova, our mission is to transform medical necessities into thoughtfully designed wearables that help people feel more like themselves throughout their healing journey.
